Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo was an Italian painter who employed the divisionist technique in his paintings. Giuseppe was born on the 28th of July, 1868, in Volpedo, Italy (a city in the Alessandria province in northern Italy).

Giuseppe Pelliza first studied at the technical school of Castelnuovo Scrivia, learning the first elements of drawing. Giuseppe was then enrolled in the Brera Academy. Giuseppe would then go on to pursue formative apprenticeship at the Accademia di San Luca, the French Academy, the Accademia di Belle Arti, the Accademia di Carrara, and the Accademia Ligustica di Belle Arti.

Guiseppe Pelliza died on the 14^th of June, 1907. He was thrown into a depression after the death of his wife and son, and died by suicide in his studio.
